What Is Adolescent Psychotherapy?
Adolescent psychotherapy is a specialized form of therapy designed to support the unique emotional, psychological, and developmental needs of teenagers. The teen years can be overwhelming—filled with intense emotions, identity struggles, social pressures, and academic stress. Therapy for adolescents provides a safe, confidential space where teens can explore their thoughts and feelings, build self-awareness, and develop healthy coping strategies.
As a psychotherapist experienced in adolescent mental health, I work with teens who are navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, peer conflict, and life transitions. Through compassionate, evidence-based therapy, I help teens feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes.
Every teen is different, but some common struggles I help with include:
Anxiety and depression
Low self-esteem and self-worth
Academic stress and school pressures
Social anxiety and peer relationships
Family conflict and communication breakdowns
Trauma and PTSD
Self-harm and suicidal thoughts
Identity, self-discovery, and self-acceptance
Early support matters

Why Work With Me?
As a psychotherapist specializing in adolescent mental health, I use a compassionate, holistic approach to support teens through life’s challenges. I integrate mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to create a safe, personalized space where teens can express themselves, build resilience, and reconnect with who they are.
I’m also joined in my practice by my mini Goldendoodle, who has a natural gift for creating comfort and ease. Many teens find his calming presence helps them feel more grounded, safe, and open, especially when discussing difficult emotions. Whether your teen is struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma, I tailor each session to meet their unique emotional and developmental needs, helping them feel seen, heard, and supported.
My specialties:

Most individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes long, giving us focused time to explore what’s going on and work on your goals at a steady, comfortable pace.
The initial session is a 90-minute intake, which gives us extra time to get to know each other, go over your history, and start building a plan that’s right for you.
That said, sometimes sessions naturally run a bit over — especially if something important is coming up or we’re in the middle of a meaningful breakthrough. I try to leave space for that when possible, so we’re not cutting something valuable short.

Yes — many extended health benefits plans in Canada cover sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), and I’m also covered under plans that include services provided by a Psychologist.
Coverage can vary depending on your specific plan, so it’s a good idea to check directly with your insurance provider. You can ask if your plan covers:
A Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario
Services billed under a supervising Psychologist
I’ll provide detailed receipts after each session that you can use to submit for reimbursement if your plan includes either.
If you're not sure what to ask, I’m happy to help guide you through checking your benefits.

The first session is a 90-minute intake, where we’ll take time to get to know each other, talk about what brought you to therapy, and explore what you'd like to get out of our work together.
I’ll ask some questions about your background, current concerns, and any past experiences with therapy or mental health — but there’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready for. This session is really about setting the foundation and making sure you feel safe, heard, and supported.
We’ll also begin to identify your goals for therapy — whether that’s improving your mood, navigating a life change, understanding yourself more deeply, or something else entirely. These goals will help guide our work and give us a sense of direction.
By the end of the session, we’ll talk about next steps and shape a plan that feels right for you.
