Therapy for Trauma
When we work together, you’ll have a calm, supportive space to speak openly about what you’re going through, without judgment. I’m a Registered Psychotherapist providing individual therapy in Newmarket and online therapy across Ontario, with a focus on , trauma, PTSD, and emotional overwhelm.
Many people come to therapy feeling high-functioning on the outside, but anxious, disconnected, or emotionally exhausted on the inside. Therapy can help you understand the patterns underneath your symptoms and build practical tools that support real change, not just short-term relief.
Together, we’ll work toward feeling more steady in your body, clearer in your mind, and more confident in your relationships. If you’re looking for trauma therapy, anxiety therapy, or individual counselling in Newmarket, you’re in the right place.
How can therapy help?
Reduce anxiety and overthinking: Learn tools to calm your nervous system and manage intrusive thoughts.
Process trauma and PTSD symptoms: Work through distressing memories, triggers, and emotional reactions safely.
Improve emotional regulation: Feel less overwhelmed, reactive, or shut down in daily life.
Build healthier relationships and boundaries: Strengthen communication, self-trust, and attachment patterns.
Increase self-worth and confidence: Shift self-criticism and perfectionism into self-compassion and resilience.
Create lasting change: Move from coping to deeper healing and long-term growth.

Most individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes long, giving us focused time to explore what’s going on and work on your goals at a steady, comfortable pace.
The initial session is a 90-minute intake, which gives us extra time to get to know each other, go over your history, and start building a plan that’s right for you.
That said, sometimes sessions naturally run a bit over — especially if something important is coming up or we’re in the middle of a meaningful breakthrough. I try to leave space for that when possible, so we’re not cutting something valuable short.

Yes — many extended health benefits plans in Canada cover sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), and I’m also covered under plans that include services provided by a Psychologist.
Coverage can vary depending on your specific plan, so it’s a good idea to check directly with your insurance provider. You can ask if your plan covers:
A Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario
Services billed under a supervising Psychologist
I’ll provide detailed receipts after each session that you can use to submit for reimbursement if your plan includes either.
If you're not sure what to ask, I’m happy to help guide you through checking your benefits.

The first session is a 90-minute intake, where we’ll take time to get to know each other, talk about what brought you to therapy, and explore what you'd like to get out of our work together.
I’ll ask some questions about your background, current concerns, and any past experiences with therapy or mental health — but there’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready for. This session is really about setting the foundation and making sure you feel safe, heard, and supported.
We’ll also begin to identify your goals for therapy — whether that’s improving your mood, navigating a life change, understanding yourself more deeply, or something else entirely. These goals will help guide our work and give us a sense of direction.
By the end of the session, we’ll talk about next steps and shape a plan that feels right for you.
